0. Context
Outdoor surveillance doesn’t always mean cables, subscriptions, or complex systems. With the Woox R4253, the brand offers a simple, autonomous smart camera powered by a small solar panel. It’s ideal for monitoring a terrace, driveway, or gate — without needing a nearby power outlet.
Compatible with Tuya, Alexa, and Google Home, this camera is designed for users who want a ready-to-use solution without setting up a full smart home system.

2. Installation
2.1 Mounting
The Woox R4253 is designed for easy installation without special tools. The solar panel is attached to an adjustable arm so it can be positioned toward the sun.
The camera can be mounted on a wall or post with two screws, and the connection between the panel and the main unit uses a short waterproof cable.
The setup is compact, well-built, and easy to reposition. Just make sure the panel receives enough sunlight to keep the battery charged.
2.2 Power supply
The camera runs on a rechargeable battery, maintained by the solar panel. Autonomy depends directly on sunlight: in summer, it can last several weeks, while in winter or shaded areas, it may only last a few days.
The Woox app displays the current battery level and sends a low-battery alert when needed.
3. Pairing and compatibility
Pairing is done through the Tuya Smart or Woox Home app via a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. Hold down the power button until the LED starts blinking, then scan the QR code displayed on your smartphone.

Integration with Alexa or Google Home is automatic afterward — the camera feed can be viewed on devices like Echo Show or Nest Hub.
However, there’s no RTSP or ONVIF support, so it can’t be used directly with Jeedom or Home Assistant. This model is clearly meant for simple, standalone use without advanced smart home automation.
4. Features and software interface
4.1 Motion and human detection
The camera can distinguish general movement from human shapes, reducing false alerts.
Detection sensitivity, region, and recording duration are customizable. Alerts can also trigger the built-in siren — but there’s no scheduling feature to limit detections by time of day.
4.2 Night vision
Three night vision modes are available: infrared, color via the LED, or automatic based on ambient light.
Night performance is decent for a small yard or driveway, though illumination remains limited.
4.3 Built-in alarm and light
The Woox R4253 includes a small white LED and a weak siren that can trigger automatically or manually. The system is more of a deterrent than an actual alarm but works well to signal motion or scare off small animals.
4.4 Power management
The power management menu displays current charge level, solar panel status, and the low-battery alert threshold.
You can adjust when notifications are sent (default 10%).
4.5 Image and audio settings
The app offers several configuration options: image flip, timestamp display, single-direction audio mode, volume adjustment, and anti-flicker control.
Audio quality is clear but not very loud.
4.6 Recording modes
Two quality options are available: SD for lighter streaming and HD for sharper footage.
Recordings can be saved locally on a microSD card (up to 128 GB) or via Tuya’s optional cloud, with automatic overwrite when storage is full.
